Providing Geospatial Services to the Commonwealth

CGIS maintains a geospatial learning center within the Institute of State and Regional Affairs (ISRA) in Church Hall at Penn State Harrisburg. The learning center is equipped with a state-of-the-art, twelve seat lab for hands on training in a variety of geospatial technologies and databases, including ArcGIS 9, Census Bureau TIGER, PAMAP imagery, and Census data mapping. The learning center's services include:

  • Executive briefings and forums
  • Applications workshops and seminars
  • One-on-one on-site training and consulting
  • Vendor presentations
  • Geospatial needs assessments
  • Geospatial research support services
  • Map layout and production
  • Outreach to schools and community groups

CGIS promotes and manages the annual Pennsylvania GIS Conference, now in its fifteenth year. This conference brings statewide geospatial professionals together each May for two days of learning, sharing, networking, and fun. <<INFO>>

CGIS provides GIS needs assessments, geospatial data capture, editing, meta-data development, and maintenance services using ArcGIS - ArcINFO.

CGIS is actively involved in geospatial organizations including PAMAP, PaMAGIC, URISA, and ASPRS, and works closely with other geospatial providers including the Pennsylvania State Data Center and PASDA.
